How Roamless Unlimited Plans Work

How Unlimited Plans work: 3 GB of full-speed data a day, and what happens after that

Roamless Unlimited Plans give you unlimited data for the full duration of your plan, with 3 GB of full-speed data every day. Once you use that daily allowance, you stay connected at a reduced speed until your allowance resets the next day — at no extra cost, and with no hard cut-off.

Quick Summary of Roamless Unlimited Plans

  1. Unlimited Plans work on the same single Roamless eSIM, alongside your data plans, Roamless Credits and rewards

  2. Unlimited Plans are data-only, and their validity starts with your first KB of usage — not at purchase

  3. You get 3 GB of full-speed data per day (the Fair Usage Limit), renewed every day of your plan

  4. After 3 GB, your speed is reduced to 1 Mbps for the rest of that day — there is no total daily cap and no extra charge

  5. You can temporarily switch to a data plan or to your Roamless Credits to get full speed back before the daily reset

  6. Unlimited Plans are available for single countries and for regions; only one Unlimited Plan runs at a time

  7. Your plan expires at a set time on its final day, which you can see in the Roamless app

When Does My Unlimited Plan Start?

  • Just like Roamless data plans, your Unlimited Plan's validity starts with the first KB of data you use from the plan itself

  • This means you can buy your Unlimited Plan before you travel — even set up your eSIM at home — without losing any days

  • If you already have a data plan in use for the same destination, your Unlimited Plan takes over straight away as soon as you buy it — you don't have to finish the data plan first

  • Your data plan is not consumed while Unlimited is in use, and Roamless goes back to it once your Unlimited Plan expires

  • Your daily 3 GB cycle runs from that starting point, in 24-hour cycles, until your plan expires

Important: your data plan's 30-day validity keeps counting down while your Unlimited Plan is in use. The clock does not pause.

If those 30 days run out before your Unlimited Plan ends, any data left on that plan expires. If you already have a data plan running for the same destination, it is usually best to use it up before starting an Unlimited Plan there.

How the 3 GB Daily Fair Usage Limit Works

  • Every day of your Unlimited Plan, you get 3 GB of data at full speed

  • When you have 600 MB left of that daily allowance (80% used), the app shows you a notice so you know you are approaching the Fair Usage Limit

  • Once you use the full 3 GB, your speed is reduced to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day

  • At reduced speed, your data is still unlimited. You are not disconnected, you are not charged extra, and there is no limit on how much data you can use at the reduced speed

  • Your daily allowance resets every 24 hours, at the same time your plan is set to expire on its last day (for example 14:00). You can see this time in the Roamless app

  • At the reset, your speed returns to full automatically with a fresh 3 GB allowance — you don't need to do anything

What Can I Do at the Reduced 1 Mbps Speed?

  • 1 Mbps is enough for everyday travel essentials:

    • Messaging apps, email and social media feeds

    • Maps and navigation

    • Web browsing, boarding passes, ride-hailing and booking apps

    • Music streaming and standard-quality video calls

  • 1 Mbps is not well suited for:

    • HD or 4K video streaming

    • Large downloads, app updates and cloud photo backups

  • If you need full speed before your daily reset, you can switch to another data source — see the next section

How to Get Full Speed Back Before the Daily Reset

When you reach the daily Fair Usage Limit, the Roamless app offers you a way to keep using full-speed data for the rest of the day. What you see depends on what is available on your account:

  • You have an available data plan → tap “Switch to plan” to use that data plan instead

  • You have no data plan but you do have Roamless Credits → tap “Switch to credits” to use your Roamless Credits instead

  • You have neither → tap “Top up & switch to credits”, complete the top-up, and your data switches to pay-as-you-go automatically once the flow is closed

Switching cannot be undone for the rest of that day's usage window, so the app always asks you to confirm first.

Your Unlimited Plan is not cancelled or paused — it simply is not the data source in use until the next daily reset.

  • Your choice does not carry over to the next day. At the next daily reset you start on Unlimited at full speed again, and you'll be asked again if you reach the Fair Usage Limit

  • You can also switch at any point while you are at reduced speed — you don't have to decide the moment you hit the limit

What Happens if the Plan or Credits I Switched to Run Out?

  • If the data source you switched to runs out or expires before the daily reset, you automatically go back to your Unlimited Plan at the reduced speed — you stay connected

  • From there you can switch again to another available data plan or to your Roamless Credits, following the same priority

  • This means you can switch more than once within the same day. If nothing is left on your account, the app will offer you the option to top up and switch to credits

Which Data Does Roamless Use First?

If you have several types of data on your account, the Roamless eSIM always follows this order:

  1. Unlimited Plans — country first, then regional

  2. Data Plans — country first, then regional

  3. Roamless Credits

  • Rewards always come first. If you earn a reward at any point, it is used before your Unlimited Plan — whether your Unlimited Plan is at full speed or at reduced speed. Once the reward is used up, Unlimited takes over again

  • Unlimited always comes before data plans — including a data plan you are already using. If you buy an Unlimited Plan for a destination where a data plan is currently in use, Unlimited takes over immediately, and your data plan waits until the Unlimited Plan expires

Can I Buy More Than One Unlimited Plan?

  • Yes. You can buy several Unlimited Plans, and you can hold a country plan and a regional plan at the same time — for example a 3-day United States plan and a 5-day North America plan

  • However, only one Unlimited Plan is ever in use at a time. They run one after the other, not in parallel

  • The country plan is used first, then the regional plan

  • This is useful if your trip gets extended: buy another Unlimited Plan and it starts automatically when your current one expires

  • Unlimited Plans do not auto-renew. When your plan ends, nothing is charged and nothing renews — you simply buy another plan if you need one

While an Unlimited Plan is active, you cannot switch to or activate another Unlimited Plan. The next one starts on its own once the current plan expires.

When Does My Unlimited Plan Expire?

  • Your Unlimited Plan runs for its full duration and expires at a set time on its last day — for example, “Expires today at 14:00”

  • As your plan gets close to its end, the app shows you the exact expiry time and what you will use next

  • When your plan expires, Roamless moves to the next data source on your account automatically, following the priority order above

Can I Use Hotspot and Tethering with Unlimited?

  • Yes. Hotspot and tethering work exactly as they do with any other Roamless data

  • There is no separate hotspot limit and no extra throttling — you can share your full 3 GB daily allowance with your other devices

  • You can also keep sharing your connection at the reduced speed after you reach the daily Fair Usage Limit

Can I Make In-App Calls with Unlimited?

  • No. Unlimited Plans are data-only, the same as Roamless data plans

  • Roamless in-app calls are charged per minute of talk time from your Roamless Credits, so you need a credit balance on your account to make them

  • Using Roamless Credits for calls does not affect your Unlimited Plan — your data keeps running on Unlimited as normal

Will I Be Charged Extra on an Unlimited Plan?

  • No. An Unlimited Plan covers your data for its full duration. Reaching the daily Fair Usage Limit does not create any charge — your speed is reduced, nothing more

  • Your Roamless Credits are only used if you choose to switch to them, or once your Unlimited Plan has expired and no other data is available

  • You can check prices and plan availability for each destination in the Roamless app or on the Roamless website

Please note that, as with Roamless data plans, Roamless Credits cannot be used to purchase Unlimited Plans.
