How Roamless Data Plans Work

Overview of Data Plans (Roamless FIX) and key features

Updated over a week ago

While Roamless is primarily known for it's pay-as-you-go model, we also offer traditional data plans for our users who need larger amounts of data at more advantageous prices (versus pay-as-you-go).

Quick Summary of Roamless Data Plans

  1. Roamless data plans are for data-only, you can't make in-app calls

  2. Roamless data plans work on the same, single, global eSIM automatically

  3. Roamless data plans' validity starts with first KB of usage, not before

  4. Roamless data plans can be activated within 12 months of purchase

  5. Once activated, Roamless data plans are valid for 30-days

  6. Roamless Data Plans and Pay-as-you-go Credits can work together, automatically

Roamless Data Plans Work on the same Single Roamless eSIM

  • Once you install your Roamless eSIM, you can use it with pay-as-you-go credits as well as with any data plans you purchase, without having to delete and re-install the eSIM

  • The same Roamless eSIM works in all 200+ destinations, and can use your data plans and pay-as-you-go credits seamlessly; the Roamless eSIM will automatically manage things for you

Roamless Data Plans are Activated Upon First KB of Data Usage

  • Roamless Data Plans' validity starts only after the first KB of data usage from the data plan itself

  • In other words, you can install and activate your eSIM while at home and purchase your data plan for your travel destination right away, without worrying about losing days or activating your plan too early

  • Once you buy a Roamless data plan, you have 12 months to activate it (i.e., to use it). If the data plan is not used within 12 months, it will expire

  • Once start using your data plan, it has 30-days of validity, after which, any unused data on the plan will expire

Roamless Data Plans and Pay-as-you-go Credits Work Automatically

  • For example, you have purchased 30-day 10GB data plan for Italy for your vacation, but mid-trip you deciced to take a day trip to Switzerland

    • When you get to Switzerland, your Italy data plan will not work but your pay-as-you-go credits will take over and you will stay connected in Switzerland for the day trip

    • Once you return back to Italy, your data plan will take over again, and you will resume data usage from your data plan, and not your pay-as-you-go credits

  • The Roamless eSIM manages your data connectivity automatically based on your location and what you have on your account in terms of pay-as-you-go credits and data plans

  • If you have a valid data plan for your location, the eSIM will always prioritize the data plan before it starts consuming your pay-as-you-go credits

Can I Buy Data Plans using Roamless Credits?

Please note that, for the time being, pay-as-you-go credits cannot be used to purchase Roamless data plans.

This feature (paying for data plans with your credits) is currently in development and we aim to make this feature available very soon.
