At Roamless, we believe in giving you flexibility and control over your connectivity, no matter where you are. That’s why you can use your single, global Roamless eSIM as pay-as-you-go, with traditional data plans, or with unlimited data... or if you need, a combination of them.

You can choose how you want to stay connected based on your travel needs, whether it's adding funds to your wallet and consuming your balance per MB of usage (paying as you go), purchasing traditional 30-day data plans for specific countries or regions, or getting an Unlimited Plan for the days you’re away.

Your single, global Roamless eSIM works with all three models as usual; no need to download different eSIMs or manually change anything.

Three Ways to Stay Connected with Roamless

  1. Pay-As-You-Go (previously known as FLEX)

    This is the Roamless you already know and love! Simply add funds to your account, and you’re good to use mobile data in any of our 200+ destinations based on that destination's rates. You only pay for what you use (rated per MB of usage). If you’re a frequent traveler hopping between countries or don't use a lot of mobile data when you travel, this is a great way to stay connected without worrying about data plans or expirations.

  2. Data Plans (previously known as FIX)

    For those who want more predictability, Roamless Plans offer fixed data bundles—5GB, 10GB, 20GB— with a 30-day validity. Each plan works in a specific country or region, giving you a set amount of data at a static price that is cheaper per GB than our pay-as-you-go rates. It’s perfect if you know exactly how much data you’ll need during your stay or if you're sure you are going to use lots of mobile data. Just remember, Roamless Plans have a 30-day validity, starting with your first KB of usage, and any unused data at the end of 30 days will expire.

  3. Unlimited Plans

    For those who don’t want to think about data at all, Roamless Unlimited Plans give you unlimited data for the full duration of your plan, in a specific country or region. You get 3GB of full-speed data every day (our Fair Usage Limit), and once you use it, you stay connected at a reduced speed (1 Mbps) until your allowance resets 24 hours later — at no extra cost, and with no hard cut-off. Just like data plans, your Unlimited Plan’s validity starts with your first KB of usage, so you can buy it before you travel without losing any days. You can read all the details in Unlimited Plans.

What’s the Difference Between Pay-as-you-Go, Data Plans and Unlimited Plans?

  • Pay-As-You-Go allows you to use your funds as you need them, when you need them, without any expiration. It offers you flexible data usage across all supported Roamless destinations. Your pay-as-you-go balance remains in your account without any expiration. You simply travel to your destination, turn on your Roamless eSIM, get online, and when you're done, you turn your off eSIM until when you need it next.

  • Data plans give you a fixed amount of data (e.g., 5GB, 10GB or 20GB) for a fixed price and a 30-day expiration. Each plan is country- or region-specific, meaning it’s only works in the country or region for which you purchased it. Roamless data plans work seamlessly with your Roamless eSIM. You do not need to download or install the eSIM for each data plan.

  • Unlimited Plans give you unlimited data for a fixed number of days, rather than a fixed amount of data. Each plan is country- or region-specific, and you’re never cut off or charged extra — after your 3GB of daily full-speed data, you simply continue at a reduced speed until the next day’s reset. Like data plans, Unlimited Plans work on the same Roamless eSIM and start with your first KB of usage.

What Happens When You Have More Than One of Them?

If you have several types of data on your account at the same time, Roamless automatically manages things for you, always using them in this order:

  1. Rewards

  2. Unlimited Plans — country plan first, then regional

  3. Data Plans — country plan first, then regional

  4. Pay-as-you-go credits

  • You’re never left offline: when one runs out or expires, the next one on your account takes over automatically, so you don’t have to change a thing.

  • Unlimited takes over right away: if you’re already using a Roamless Plan and then buy an Unlimited Plan for the same destination, your Unlimited Plan kicks in immediately -- you don’t have to use up your data plan first. Your data plan simply waits its turn, and Roamless goes back to it once your Unlimited Plan expires.

  • In-App Calls: Your pay-as-you-go credits will always be used for in-app calls; data plans and Unlimited Plans are strictly for data. If you’re making calls through the Roamless app, those charges will be deducted from your pay-as-you-go balance, even if you have an active data plan or Unlimited Plan (which you can still use for data).

  • Rewards: You may also have active rewards (from promo codes you've redeemed). Rewards are always used first, before Unlimited Plans and data plans -- since we want to ensure you get the most benefit out of your rewards (before they expire).

Important: your data plan’s 30-day validity keeps counting down while your Unlimited Plan is in use. The clock does not pause, so if those 30 days run out before your Unlimited Plan ends, any data left on that plan expires.

    • Visit multiple countries and want the flexibility to use their funds wherever they go,

    • Do not want to worry about expirations or wasting data,

    • Do not have heavy mobile data usage,

    • Need connectivity between connecting flights at airports,

    • Need a reliable, on-demand back-up option for mobile data at home,

    • Need a flexible, low-cost mobile data option for their second device at home

  • Data Plans are ideal for travelers who:

    • Plan on spending a longer-amount of time in one country or region,

    • Want predictability and want to lock in a specific amount of data for their stay,

    • Know they will consume lots of data on their trip,

    • Need cheaper per GB data rates (compared to pay-as-you-go)

  • Unlimited Plans are made for travelers who:

    • Don’t want to think about data or track their usage at all,

    • Are staying in one country or region for the length of their trip,

    • Are heavy data users, or are travelling with a hotspot for their other devices,

    • Want to know the exact cost of their connectivity up front, with no top-ups along the way

  • You can also keep a certain amount of pay-as-you-go credits in your account, and then buy separate Roamless Plans or Unlimited Plans to use in specific countries/regions, and never have to worry about losing connectivity

    • Protip: This combination is especially great if you have connecting flights and need a few hours of data at the connection airport -- your pay-as-you-go balance will keep you online at the connecting airport, and your plan will kick in once you arrive at your final destination -all automatically
