How to Use Pay-as-you-go Credits

How Your Pay-as-you-go Balance Works Automatically

Updated over a week ago

Your Roamless pay-as-you-go (FLEX) balance works automatically in all 200+ Roamless destinations using your single, global eSIM.

You do not have to manually select a destination to 'activate' or 'apply' your credits.

When you open the Roamless app, your will see your pay-as-you-go credit balance on the landing page, as well as how much data allowance you get in your current location. When you travel to a different location, your data allowance changes based on that destination's pay-as-you-go rates (i.e. price per GB of data).

Let's look at an example:

  • Assume you're in Canada and you install the Roamless app (allowing location permissions for the app)

  • You activate your eSIM and top-up $25.00 USD worth of Roamless pay-as-you-go credits

  • Once the payment is complete, you see your balance updated in the Roamless app, as well as how much data allowance you get in your location:

    • Since the pay-as-you-go rates is $4.45/GB in Canada, you will see that $25.00 USD credits give you 5.6GB data allowance in Canada

  • Now, assume you travel to the United States for a quick trip

  • You open the Roamless app to check how much data allowance you have in the US for your balance:

    • The pay-as-you-go rates for the US is $2.45/GB, so your $25.00 USD credits will give you 10.2GB data allowance in the US

In other words, the data allowance you get with your pay-as-you-go credits automatically updates based on your current location. The same $25.00 USD will give you 5.6GB if you're in Canada, and 10.2GB if you're in the US.

You do not have to manually select a destination to 'apply' your credit balance. It's all automatic and seamless.

You can check each destination's pay-as-you-go rates from inside the app, as well as on the Roamless website.
